Egyptian Thoeris necklace
after a find from the tomb of the three princesses in the mountains of Theben. 18th dynasty during the reign of Thutmosis III. and his sister Hatshepsut. Today conserved in Germany, Hildesheim, Pelizaeus Museum. During the reign of Thutmosis III (1479- 1425 BC) with his sister Hatshepsut, the pharaoh took three secondary wifes with near eastern origin. These three princesses were buried together in a tomb in the mountains of Thebes wearing almost identical jewellery. Underneath these beautiful necklaces and bracelets, they found this necklace with pendants of Thoeris, an egyptian god represented as a hippopotamus.
